We welcomed ECPAT Child Alert NZ who conducted an enlightening presentation to staff, delving into the critical issue of child sexual exploitation. Beginning with a comprehensive overview of their organisation's history and mission, they proceeded to address the multifaceted aspects of child exploitation, contextualised within Aotearoa New Zealand.
The presentation covered various forms of exploitation, risk factors, and legal frameworks crucial for understanding and combatting this pervasive issue.
Highlighting the barriers to identification and disclosure, the session underscored the urgent need for awareness and education. The insights provided were both illuminating and sobering, emphasising the imperative of collective action. As a result, our team eagerly anticipates collaborating with ECPAT to disseminate this invaluable information to agencies and organisations throughout the Waikato region and beyond.
