On July 9th, our staff hui featured a presentation from Kāinga Taupua, providing a deep dive into their impactful work. The team shared insights about their dedicated group and the tangata whaiora they support. They discussed the challenges they face, particularly the limitations imposed by the corrections system, which often complicates their efforts to provide comprehensive care and support.
To bring these challenges to life, Kāinga Taupua facilitated an interactive activity where staff were tasked with planning a week for the tangata whaiora onsite. The exercise included scheduling necessary hui while accounting for the actual staff capacity available each day. This activity vividly demonstrated the flexibility required from the team and how external restrictions can significantly impact their ability to manage schedules effectively.
The session offered a valuable glimpse into the complexities of Kāinga Taupua's mahi, highlighting the careful balancing act they perform daily. It was an eye-opening experience for all attendees, underlining the importance of understanding and supporting such community-driven initiatives. This presentation not only increased our appreciation for Kāinga Taupua’s efforts but also sparked discussions on how we can further support their mission.
